Get In The Game!!!

Our community LOVES football!  During November, attenders and friends at First Baptist were encouraged to “Get in the Game” with their Christian walk.  Topics like:  “Game Plan”, “Huddle Up”, “Game Day”, and “End Zone Celebration” were designed to help us focus on “getting into the game” as we develop as followers of Jesus Christ.

A huge highlight of the month was “Game Day” on November 20. Former Steelers, Antwaan Randel-El and Craig Wolfley, (see here…Pastor Mike Wells interviewed them) shared their faith effectively in the worship services and children’s ministry, as well as taking part in the outdoor tailgate parties that followed each service.  The tent was alive with people, the aroma of great tailgating food, games (with great prizes!) and music provided by a DJ.  And of course the autograph lines seemed endless. There were big screen televisions for viewing classic Steelers games, as well as Steelers memorabilia and autographed give-aways.   The door prize for the event was 2 Steeler game tickets, won by a visitor from Grove City.  The church and grounds were a sea of gold and black.  (Except for Pastor Scott who is a Browns fan).

As El and Wolf spoke , (El and Wolf as we now call them) their message was this:  don’t give up on people as you share your faith with them, learn to praise God morning till night, and “Dad, you are the leader in the home” (when Dad comes to Christ, everything changes!)

There were over 1000 people of all ages here for the event.  As we gathered on Nov. 27 for the “End Zone Celebration”,we praised God for all the new people who attended (about 120 families), and for fresh commitments to “huddle up” and grow in our relationships through Life Community groups.
