Short Term Missions - English Camps

In 2007, CWW missionary Bill Martin spoke at Berean, Mansfield about the need to start an English Resource Center in Dakar, Senegal. Three years later, Berean sent a team to participate in Martin’s first English camp.

After a challenging trip because of weather difficulties and cancelled flights, eight people from Berean, led by Pastor Bill Heaton and his wife, Julie, spent two weeks teaching conversational English in four classes with 7-8 students in each in cooperation with CWW missionaries Bill & Cathy Martin, Bruce & Julie Adamson and Tim & Mary Sue Austin..

PastoBerean English Campr Bill said, “The English Camp far exceeded everyone's expectations. The students said how wonderful it was to talk 6 hours a day for 6 days with English speaking Americans, something they never get to do. They loved the emphasis on pronunciation and the opportunity to interact so much in the lessons. And they were amazed by our relational style of teaching. They thanked us over and over for sharing our lives with them, accepting, and respecting them. They won our hearts also. They were extremely appreciative, interested, and excited to participate in class. They were fun and so enjoyable. Deep friendships were made.

I have been on over 35 international short term mission trips and this was one of the very best. A great team, great opportunity, and the Great Blessing of God. I am so thankful”
